Developing new ways for businesses to get paid

Wise, 2023

Kickstarted a team to tackle a key strategic opportunity for Wise’s Receive squad to develop an invoicing feature for our business customers, from pitching the opportunity to the company to designing the first version released to customers. Invoices are at the heart of how businesses get paid, and Wise has a unique opportunity to make manual invoicing a much easier task for micro and small businesses operating internationally, through a radically simpler interface and the ability to invoice in multiple currencies.

I lead design within a product team, managing two designers and a researcher. I’m responsible for understanding the payment needs of existing customers, scoping tech requirements, validating initial design concepts, designing detailed flow designs, and building an existing customer beta group to participate in research studies.

Scaling a new card payments solution for businesses

Wise, 2022

I worked on Wise’s Receive squad to get to market a new card payments solution for businesses, a key milestone in Wise’s journey to become the one account businesses need to receive payments. Beyond the value of fast and convenient card payments, scaling this feature to Wise customers in a safe and sustainable way required several stages of work, from leading onboarding to customer verification efforts.

I led design for this product team, managing two designers and a researcher. My work included setting up an onboarding and comms plan, designing key flows to setup card payments and process refunds for disputes, and enabling the operational teams to verify and offboard customers.

Changing the way newspapers are financially supported

The Guardian, 2018

In what has been my most meaningful piece of work so far, I was part of the team founded to develop ‘Contributions’, a new way for Guardian readers to support the newspaper through donations that has contributed to the Guardian breaking even and entering a period of new financial stability.

I led the design work for this project and managed two designers, writing and designing appeals and landing pages, supporting iterative live messaging tests to understand readers’ motivations to contribute, and developing a reader revenue strategy.

Building a strategy to tackle a new audience

Idean x Qubit, 2020

I worked with Qubit, an e-commerce personalisation software company, to help them better understand a new target audience, digital merchandisers, and design a strategy to put them at the centre of the company’s focus.

I was the project lead, owning the day-to-day relationship with the client, planning project activities, designing visual concepts, and testing with existing and potential customers the hypothesis behind our work to unlock their next phase of growth.

Redesigning the newspaper app experience

The Guardian, 2015

I worked on the most significant redesign of the Guardian’s native apps for iOS and Android, and established a unified design framework, which has guided the newspaper in its growth to becoming a global award winning media platform.

I designed all aspects of the app, creating early concept prototypes, designing and iterating individual features, and validating them in live alpha and beta pilots during the release.
